How can OSF help me optimize my immune system and how is it developed?
The Best Defense is a Good Offense!
The immune system is an army of cells and organs that defend the body against attack. Enemies of the immune system include bacteria, viruses, parasites, germs, and various other microscopic invaders. These invaders penetrate the body’s natural shields, such as the skin, and make their way towards their target destination. Your immune system, the first and last line of defense, produces highly specialized cells such as lymphocytes to counter the threat. Included among these lymphocytes are natural killer (NK) cells, whose mission is to seek and destroy any “harmful” invaders that penetrate the body’s initial defense positions. This is especially important because low or absent NK cell activity is associated with virtually all human disease. Pollution, stress, the escalating rate of infectious disease, and the ability of bacteria and viruses to thrive, despite the use of antibiotics, are just a few of the factors that can affect the efficiency of your immune system.
Life’s First Food
To combat the increasing risks, the creators of Matol's BIOMUNE OSF ™ line have successfully developed an exclusive extract of immune factors from enriched bovine colostrum and whey. Colostrum, often called “first milk,” is a pre-milk substance produced by new mothers that contains immune enhancers to protect the newborn against disease. The colostrum used in the making of Matol BIOMUNE OSF™ Plus comes entirely from a select herd of cows raised in strict organic conditions. No antibiotics or artificial substances of any kind are fed to the animals, resulting in a purely natural product. These immune factors, clinically proven to increase natural killer (NK) cell activity, can now be “transferred” from one species to another through a patented, proprietary process. Bovine colostrum has been used for centuries for natural healing and immune support. It is the only natural way to destroy bacteria and fungi.Astragalus, a traditional Chinese herb known to stimulate immune response, is the other “secret” ingredient, though its benefits have been known for centuries. Astragalus, unlike other herbs, has an added benefit in that the human body does not build up a tolerance over time to its curative effects. When combined with the enriched colostrum and other special ingredients, the outcome is a product that has ushered in the new generation in immune system support - BIOMUNE PLUS OSF™

What are the facts about flaxseed oil and how can taking EFA help?
THE FACTS ON FLAX OIL
Why do health conscious consumers nationwide take a tablespoon of Matol’s EFA every day? Because of the way it makes them feel! Seems as though most everyone has heard the news about Omega-3 fatty acids in flaxseed oil these days. Hardly a day goes by when Omega-3’s are not featured on the nightly news, in local newspapers, radio and television programs or in health and nutrition magazines. Even many mainstream doctors are expounding on the virtues of flax oil to their patients, family and friends, and in the media.
So what’s all the excitement about? According to the World Health Organization, Omega-3 fatty acids from vegetable sources such as flaxseed oil are essential to optimal health and life. As it is an essential nutrient, we must obtain Omega-3 fatty acids in the foods we eat. The problem is that we simply do not get enough Omega-3’s in our Standard American Diet (SAD). According to Dr. Artemis Simopoulos, M.D., author of The Omega Plan, Omega-3 fatty acids are undetectable in blood samples of 20% of Americans. As for the rest of us – we may be critically deficient in this vital nutrient. Thus, the need to supplement our diet with Omega-3 rich flax oil is vital.
Dr. Donald Rudin, M.D., in his book Omega-3 Oils, likens today’s rampant Omega-3 fatty acid deficiency to the classic B-vitamin deficiencies, pellagra and beriberi of the early 1900’s. The fact is, a deficiency of Omega-3 fatty acids is associated with over 50 common diseases and illnesses. A recent MedLine search of peer-reviewed medical journals established a relationship between Omega-3 deficiency and many serious afflictions.

How is Fibresonic more effective than Metamucil?
"FIBRESONIC® MORE EFFECTIVE THAN "METAMUCIL®"
Year long Clinical Study reveals wonderful results using Matol’s fiber supplement Fibresonic®Dr. Tapan K. Basu, Professor, Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science at the University of Alberta, recently completed Phase I (Clinical Study) of a two part Dietary Fiber Study. The following is a brief synopsis:
INTRODUCTION Dietary fiber can be divided into two main categories - water-soluble and water insoluble. Inadequate fiber intake has been linked to a variety of diseases, including bowel disorders, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Only a few commercially available fiber supplements contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. This study was undertaken to compare the potential health benefits of Fibresonic® (both types of fiber) with that of Psyllium, a hydrophilic mucilloid consisting of only soluble fiber (Metamucil®).
CLINICAL STUDY: PHASE I A. PROCEDURES A total of 23 subjects were recruited, all of which were over the age of 50. Focus was placed on subjects who, to some degree had a problem with constipation and an above average serum cholesterol level. Subjects were given the two fiber supplements (Fibresonic® and Metamucil®), each for periods of approximately 30 days in random order. The two periods of fiber feeding were separated by 28 days without fiber supplement (washout period). The subjects were instructed to eat their regular diet during the entire experimental period.
B. RESULTS 1. Colonic Function The study revealed that the daily stool volume increased by Fibresonic supplementation in 4 out of 5 subjects (80%), while the Metamucil® supplementation resulted in an increased stool volume in 3 out of 6 subjects (50%). The study also indicated that 4 out of 5 subjects who had an increased stool volume due to Fibresonic® intake, experienced a decreased bowel transit time. The transit time was decreased in three out of six subjects taking Metamucil® as a fiber supplement.
2. Hypocholesterolemic Action Twelve subjects were recruited for this study. Neither the Fibresonic® nor the Metamucil® had any effect on the plasma total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol or triglycerides. However, Fibresonic® resulted in an elevation of the HDL-cholesterol level (15%).
CONCLUSIONS A. Colon Function To a select group of subjects (50+), daily supplementation with one serving of Fibresonic® containing 11g of soluble and insoluble fiber for 30 days revealed an appreciable increase in stool volume and a decreased bowel transit time. These results clearly indicate that Fibresonic® could be used for an effective alleviation from constipation. In this respect, Fibresonic® is more effective than Metamucil®.
B. Cholesterol-lowering Action Neither Fibresonic® nor Metamucil® had a positive effect on the plasma levels of total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triyglycerides. However, HDL-cholesterol (a protective factor against coronary heart disease, CHD) was significantly increased by Fibresonic® supplementation for 30 days. *Metamucil® is made by G.D. Searle & Co. Searle does not make or license Fibresonic®.

How will Enzymes help support a healthy digestive system?
Enzyme nutrition simply supports normal digestive function to assure proper ingestion, digestion and utilization of food. This supplement helps replace those enzymes and micro flora (probiotics) lost or killed during cooking or commercial processing of your food. Matol’s advanced formula contains a complete full spectrum of potent plant enzymes specially chosen for optimum digestive activity in the human body. Also contained in this formula are the intestinal micro flora, normally found in the human gut, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, and select herbs complementary to the digestive process. Proteases to digest protein. ....... Lipases to digest fat. ...... Amylases to digest carbohydrates including sucrose (table sugar) and lactose (milk sugar). ...... Cellulase to digest the fibers in fruits and vegetables and help liberate and increase the nutrient value from those foods.
Friendly micro flora (bacteria) know as "Probiotics"
Supports the growth and re-colonization of friendly bacteria from both Lactobacillus species (found in small intestine) and Bifidobacterium species (found in large intestine). ....... There are many factors that can disrupt the desirable balance of intestinal micro flora. The most common are; disease, eating contaminated food, use of broad spectrum antibiotics, chronic constipation, x-ray radiation of the abdomen, and immune system disorders. Antibiotics kill both friendly and unfriendly bacteria and re-colonization is necessary to reestablish normal balance.
Benefits of desirable micro flora toward good health is well documented
